Bellator has announced the televised card for next Thursdays Bellator 28 event from the Mahalia Jackson Theater in New Orleans, Louisiana.
A previously announced bout between UFC veteran Rich Clementi and season two lightweight tournament competitor Carey Vanier is coming to the card, and a reported bout between Georgi Karakhanyan and second replacement Anthony Leone, are both set as tournament qualifier bouts for season four.
Joining the televised card on Thursday is a middleweight bout between season two competitor Eric Schambari and UFC veteran Matt Horwich, as well as a lightweight bout between NCAA D-1 wrestling champion Eric Larkin and Louisiana native Marcus Andrusia.
The event is going head to head with the NFL 2010 season kick off in New Orleans when the Saints host the Minnesota Vikings.
Penick's Analysis: With less than a week to go until this card and the fact that it's going head to head with the Vikings-Saints game, this is understandably one of the weaker cards Bellator will be putting on this season. There are some solid matchups, for sure, but none of them have anything to do with this season's tournaments or following up on previous seasons. But, considering they have to know less people will be tuning in and showing up live, they're being smart not to put a ton on this card that might be missed.
