Middleweight Matt "The Law" Lindland was all set to get back to action in Strikeforce next month against Luke Rockhold, but Rockhold came up injured and was forced out of their October 9 meeting.
Now, according to a report from MMAWeekly.com, Lindland is eying a December 4 return in St. Louis.
"I did a contract amendment to extend my contract a little longer so I?ll fight Dec. 4 in St. Louis,? Lindland said. ?I don?t know if they?ve solidified my opponent yet."
Lindland doesn't have an opponent set yet, but he says he'll be fully prepared for anyone by the December card, coming to the Scottrade Center in St. Louis and headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Dan Henderson and Renato "Babalu" Sobral.
"?Keep your eyes peeled because I?m sure we?ll get announcement from Strikeforce and confirm everything as far as an opponent soon,? said Lindland. ?I want to work with Strikeforce, so I signed an extension to stay with them longer and be with the organization.
?I?ll be in really, really great shape. I already started a really serious camp for the fight in October, so I?m just going to keep that training regimen going through to December. I?m going to come forward, put a lot of pressure on my opponent and make it the worst night of their life."

Penick's Analysis: Lindland against Robbie Lawler would make sense. Lindland sounds like he wants a bigger name opponent than Rockhold, but while there are a number of names that could be I'm not sure who they'll put against him. Still, his addition will be another solid fight on the Showtime broadcast for this St. Louis card.
